San Joaquin County Public Health Services’ Safe Kids Coalition was awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support child passenger safety education for parents and caregivers, so every child travels safely.

Public Health Services’ Injury Prevention Program announced today that it was awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its Bicyclist and Pedestrian Safety Program. The program will promote safe practices for people walking and biking and emphasize the critical role of a driver’s responsibility to look out for people outside of vehicles.

On Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., San Joaquin County Public Health Services and the San Joaquin County Opioid Safety Coalition will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration to host DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at locations across the county. DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.

Today, San Joaquin County announced that San Joaquin Health Centers (SJ Health) has been awarded $650,000 in federal funding through the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Program to support access to primary health care services throughout the County.

Earlier this week, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Housing and Urban Development announced a first ever “Treatment First” toolkit to address addiction and homelessness. National experts, including San Joaquin County Health Care Services (SJCHCS) Director, Genevieve Valentine, were among 40 experts nationwide to help develop the Best Practices Toolkit: Addressing Homelessness and Addiction through “Treatment First.”
