Today, San Joaquin County announced that San Joaquin Health Centers (SJ Health) has been awarded $650,000 in federal funding through the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Program to support access to primary health care services throughout the County.

Earlier this week, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Housing and Urban Development announced a first ever “Treatment First” toolkit to address addiction and homelessness. National experts, including San Joaquin County Health Care Services (SJCHCS) Director, Genevieve Valentine, were among 40 experts nationwide to help develop the Best Practices Toolkit: Addressing Homelessness and Addiction through “Treatment First.”

San Joaquin County officials are urging residents to take precautions as the fire at the Medline Industries facility continues to burn, generating significant amounts of black smoke that may affect nearby communities.

Today, the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors joined County leaders and the Health Care Services Agency to officially open the County’s new Medical Examiner facility. The modernized building is designed to provide a secure, respectful, and efficient environment that supports advanced forensic operations, offers thoughtful accommodations for families and visitors, and includes flexibility to meet future needs.
